Yogananda writes in his book Autobiograhy of a Yogi that this chant was a favorite of Sri Yukteswar. The later editions of the Cosmic Chants book (YSS) add that this chant, together with “Desire, my Great Enemy”, were “two Bengali chants often chanted by Paramahansaji’s guru, Sri Sri Swami Sri Yukteswar”.
LYRICS:
Oh my Saint, wake yet wake oh my Saint,
wake yet wake oh my Saint.
You did not meditate, you did not concentrate,
you did not meditate, you did not concentrate,
you passed thy time in idle words oh my Saint,
wake yet wake oh my Saint
wake yet wake oh my Saint.
Death will be at thy door.
You may not have time any more.
Death will be at thy door.
You may not have time any more to redeem thy soul oh my Saint,
wake yet wake oh my Saint
wake yet wake oh my Saint.
