Yogananda used the imagery of this Cosmic Chant in various talks:
“Remember, if you don’t find God, you are not making enough effort in your meditation. Should you not find the pearl after one or two divings, don’t blame the ocean. Blame your diving; you are not going deep enough. If you dive really deep you will find the pearl of His presence.”
“Dive deep in the ocean of meditation. If you don’t find the pearls of His presence, don’t blame the ocean, blame your diving. Dive again and again until you find Him. “Seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (both quotes from Man’s Eternal Quest)
“Do not blame the Ocean of meditation to be devoid of the pearls of Self-Realization if you do not find them by a few devotional divings. Dive deep, again and again, in the sea of Samadhi, until you find the priceless pearls that you are seeking.” (Praecepta Lessons)
LYRICS:
Today my mind has dived deep in Thee.
For Thy pearls of love from Thy depthless sea.
Today my mind has dived deep in Thee.
If I find not, I will not blame Thy sea;
I will find fault with my diving.
Today my mind has dived deep in Thee.
WHEN TO USE THIS SONG:
Use after meditation to go into deeper meditation, or when one does not find God after several meditations.
