Yogananda explains the meaning of these lyrics: “But when you can’t do that [being in ecstasy], the next best is that no matter how you are acting, your mind should be on God. That’s what the meaning is, “I have made Thee polestar of my life. During my activity or even think of Thee, my whole mind is on Thee.” Just as the compass, no matter how you rotate it, the needle will always point northward. So must your mind be. No matter how you rotate with activity, your mind, the needle of your mind must always point to the presence of God.”
“Let us all resolve that no matter what happens, we will make God the polestar of our love, and that we will send that love to all.”
LYRICS:
I have made Thee Polestar of my life;
I have made Thee Polestar of my life.
Though my sea is dark, and my stars are gone;
Though my sea is dark, and my stars are gone,
Still I see the path through Thy mercy;
Still I see the path through Thy mercy.
