This is a very common image used by Yogananda to explain the soul and God. In Metaphysical Meditations, for example, he writes:
“The ocean of Spirit has become
the little bubble of my soul.
The bubble of my life cannot die,
whether floating in birth,
or disappearing in death,
in the ocean of cosmic consciousness,
for I am indestructible consciousness,
protected in the bosom of Spirit’s immortality.”
He ends his poem Samadhi with these words:
“A tiny bubble of laughter,
I am become the Sea of Mirth Itself.”
Speaking about this Cosmic Chant in his Super Advanced Course, Yogananda advises: “Sing over and over and over, the Song of Cosmic Consciousness.”
LYRICS:
So do Thou my Lord
So do Thou my Lord
Thou and I never apart
Thou and I never apart
Wave of the sea dissolve in the sea
Wave of the sea dissolve in the sea
I am the bubble, make me the sea,
Oh I am the bubble, make me the sea,
Make me the sea, make me the sea
Make me the sea, make me the sea
I am the bubble, make me the sea,
Oh I am the bubble, make me the sea,
[last four lines are repeated twice more]
